Remembering Artist Ginny Ruffner
Museum of Glass is saddened by the passing of artist Ginny Ruffner. Ginny will be remembered not only for her humor and creativity, but for her wide-ranging curiosity and the tenacity with which she pursued new ideas. We at MOG feel fortunate to have intersected with these moments of inspiration, both in the Hot Shop and the galleries.
Over the years, Ginny visited the Hot Shop for four Visiting Artist residencies. Each residency was an opportunity to further a new line of inquiry, exploring everything from manifestations of the chandelier to the augmented reality exploration that would inform her monumental project Reforestation of the Imagination. Her work was celebrated in the solo exhibition Creativity: The Flowering Tornado, Art by Ginny Ruffner (on view at MOG in 2005), and will remain an example of innovation in the medium of glass in the Museum’s collections.
Ginny was certainly a beloved member of our artistic community. Her family and friends are in our thoughts. She will be deeply missed.
